In the spirit of trying to share a little bit more of my life on the blog I decided to start sharing some of my favorite recipes. This weekend I was able to snap some pictures of one of my families favorite treats.
Lately Hudson is very into bananas. Our last bunch got very ripe very quickly so it was decided that banana bread would be made.
Here is what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
-4 ripe bananas
-2 eggs
-2 cups of flour
-2 teaspoons baking powder
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
-1 cup of sugar
-9 tablespoons of butter
-2 cups chocolate chips (You can do less, but I love it full of chips!)
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Here’s what you need to do:
-Preheat over to 350 degrees
-Beat butter and sugar until creamy. I like to melt my butter a little to make this step easier.
-Add eggs
-Mix flour, baking powder and salt and add into mixture
-Use a fork to mash up bananas and add them to the mixture along with the vanilla extract.
-Add chocolate chips
-Pam/Butter a loaf pan and add mixture. Bake for 1 hr.
{I don’t like to fill the whole pan so typically one of these batches fills 3 9″ x 5″ x 3″ loaf pans.}
Let cool and then enjoy!
How do you like your banana bread? Fill of chocolate chips? Nuts? Do you toast yours? Add some butter? I like doing all of the above. It’s one of my favorite treats.

Mmm… This is a weekly treat around my house. My recipe is a bit different but I don’t think you can go wrong. I usually do muffins these days (mostly because I temporarily lost my loaf pan for a while and converted over in the meantime. Note to self: don’t let husband put away dishes). My new fav, though, is using the bundt pan and then glazing with choc ganache. I can still occasionally convince myself that this is an appropriate breakfast, but the little man and big man in my life love it for dessert! Deeeeelish!

Umm chocolate ganache sounds amazing. I always feel like I’m being healthy eating banana bread even though I literally put an entire bag of chocolate chips.

Thanks Brenda. I was going to add a picture of Hudson, but some people don’t love all of the baby stuff. Trust me I get emails about it. Next time I will get a pictures of Hudson munching away.

Hi — I just won the Valentine’s Day office bake-off with your recipe. I did add pineapple to it just to give it a little personal twist. It was a big hit! Thanks for this idea and all the others. Much appreciated!

ON THE BLOG
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]

Budget Friendly Bar Carts
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
