Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Steals two bases in win

Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with one RBI, one run scored and two steals in a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Gonzalez reached on an error, stole second and came around to score in the third inning then added an RBI single and another steal in the sixth. After missing most of June with a hamstring injury, Gonzalez has appeared in three straight games and drew his first start in center field of the season. He has had trouble staying healthy this season and is hitting .279 with four steals over 43 at-bats.

Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Homers, scores three times in win

Valdez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and three runs scored in a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Valdez hit a solo home run off Kevin Gausman in the fourth inning, walked and scored in the sixth then singled and scored in the eighth. Valdez has been hot in June, hitting .341 with 10 extra-base hits and 14 RBI in 44 at-bats. He rarely plays against left-handed pitchers, going 0-for-20 against them on the season, but he is hitting a respectable .252 with six homers and 25 RBI in 115 at-bats against righties.

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Homers, steals two bases in win

Duran went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two steals in a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Duran hit a solo home run off Kevin Gausman in the fifth inning then added an RBI single and a steal in the sixth. He later stole another base after reaching on a fielder's choice in the eighth. Duran extended his hitting streak to 10 games and has hit .356 with three homers and eight steals in June. On the season, he is hitting .277 with six home runs and 19 steals hitting leadoff for the Red Sox.

Bello (7-4) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.
Bello threw three scoreless innings before loading the bases in the fourth, but he managed to limit the damage to two runs and responded with two more scoreless frames before leaving the game with a 5-2 lead. This was Bello's first quality start since May 22 and his best performance in June, as he surrendered 14 total runs over his first three June outings. On the season, Bello owns a 4.83 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 62:26 K:BB and lines tentatively lines up for a rematch with the Blue Jays next week.

Bastardo will presumably receive another medical opinion or two on his elbow before a decision is made on a treatment plan, but he's expected to require a reconstructive procedure that will keep him out for the rest of the 2024 campaign and most, if not all, of the 2025 season. Hamilton was held out of the starting lineup after exiting Monday's game with discomfort in his side. The Red Sox reinstated Martin (personal) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Martin was placed on the IL in early June after informing Boston of his issues with anxiety, but he will rejoin the Red Sox' active roster just one day after becoming eligible. Martin tossed a scoreless inning at Triple-A Worcester as part of his rehab, and it's possible the hiatus will be what Martin needs to right the ship after falling to a 4.22 ERA in 21 appearances with Boston this season. Cooper Criswell was optioned to Worcester in a corresponding move.

Criswell will give up his active roster spot to Chris Martin (personal), who's being activated from the 15-day IL. Criswell posted a 4.15 ERA across 52.0 innings with Boston and should be one of the first options the Red Sox look at if a starter were to get injured.
